Lycon Wax is in such demand these days even popular with celebrities, it contains the finest natural ingredients & aromatherapy oils. Its popularity is due to its superior hair removal, removing hairs as short as 1mm, low temperature and more comfortable waxing experience.

The elite Lycon brand offers a choice of Hot Wax and Strip Wax , complemented by pre and post waxing lotions, retail homecare products and accessories, allowing the right combination to be tailored for total customer satisfaction.

Lycon is the professional’s choice in quality wax and an essential ingredient in leading salons, it is great for sensitive skin and delicate areas, it shrink wraps around hair strands without sticking to the skin. When the wax is removed it pulls from the root of the hair follicle, removing the dermal-papilla. This prevents hair breakage, in-grown hairs and unnecessary redness associated with waxing, leading to softer smoother skin for longer.

What is the difference between hot wax and strip wax?

Lycon hot wax is spread fairly thick onto skin after it has been cleansed and allowed to dry slightly before it is quickly but gently peeled off.Lycon Strip Waxing for less sensitive skin such as legs and arms. With strip wax, the wax is spread thinly all over the area then a paper strip is applied and pulled off, leaving smooth hair free skin. Also Hot Wax or Strip Wax can be used on facial areas and underarms

The Bikini Wax

Hair is removed from outside the panty line ( if you wish sides of bikini line can be taken deeper in and  hair can be moved can include some waxing some hair on the top for more defined triangle area)

The Brazilian and Hollywood Waxing

Brazilian wax is where all the hair is removed, except a strip of hair which can be as thick or as narrow as you wish. Hollywood wax is everything off!

How to get the best Waxing Results

The best thing to do is to prepare as Ingrown hairs can be common with strip waxing ,exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! Use exfoliating gloves or Buffers and in the shower gently massage your whole body using the gloves with shower gel, focussing on  your delicate areas. Do this a couple of times, ideally stopping 2 days before your wax. This will get rid of any dead skin cells creating a softer smoother skin which leads to better results with the wax. Don't moisturize before waxing, only after and trim your hair if it is longer than 1.5cms as this will also make it less painful.

What causes in-grown hairs?

Skin suffering from lack of moisture Coarse hair Embedded oil in the hair follicles Build up of dead skin cells in the pores and on the surface of the skin can cause ingrown hairs – some are more prone to this than others due to genetics Coarse curly hair growing in a curved hair follicle Waxing after care. You may experience slight pinkness after a waxing treatment but this is normal. However, if this lasts for more than 48 hours please feel free to contact me for further advice. After your wax, keep the waxed area clean and avoid heat for 24 hours, therefore avoiding:

-hot baths or showers (warm water only)

-tanning (natural sunbathing, sun beds or fake tans)

-saunas, hot tubs, Jacuzzis or steam room treatments and avoid swimming pools

-sports, gym work or other exercise which will increase perspiration

-Ensure your hands are washed and clean before touching the area

-Do not apply deodorants, lotions or other products to the area, other than those recommended by your therapist for 24 hours.

After about a week start to exfoliate 3 times a week with exfoliating gloves, this will  remove dead skin cells which will help the new hairs to grown through and will avoid you getting in-grown hairs!

Questions and Tips prior to waxing

Are you using chemicals?
When you book your waxing appointment, bear in mind that it is always helpful to inform us if you are taking medication, including antibiotics. Please also let us know if you use Retin-A, glycolic acid, Acutane, Benzoyl Peroxide or acne creams as they can affect how your skin responds during waxing.

Hair growth should about 2 week’s growth for the most effective waxing

How long will the waxed area be hair free?

In most cases, hair growth is minimal during the first week or two and noticeably increases in the third and fourth week at which point you should be thinking of making another appointment. If it is your first time it can take up to four treatments for your hair to get into a growth cycle that gives best results. We recommend waxing every 4 weeks at the start to maintain your smooth appearance.

Does it hurt?

Every person has a different pain threshold and also experiences waxing differently, however if you maintain your waxing regularly, most find it easier as the hairs become thinner, lighter and sparser after a few treatments. If your pain threshold is particularly low a Nurofen tablets half an hour prior to treatment tends to reduce pain.

Don’t wax right before your period; not only are you more tender, hormones make hair coarser, making it prone to breaking off.

Are there any conditions that will prevent me from getting waxed?

 A. Contagious skin conditions will prevent from waxing the affected area until the condition has completely cleared. Skin care products that contain salicylic acid, glycolic acid or alpha hydroxyl acids of any kind, can cause the skin to lift while waxing as can prescription medications such as antibiotics. Acutane, or topical ointments such as Retin-A or Renova.

If you are taking Roaccutane we advise waiting six months after finishing this medication before being waxed. we are unable to remove hair from skin that is sunburnt, chafed or broken, or skin that has been treated with steroid cream within the last three months. Your comfort and safety come first; it’s difficult to predict how skin will react, no matter how many precautions are taken. Keep in mind that everyone’s skin will react differently to waxing, but very few people have any adverse reactions.
